Biography

Anna Tse Man Kiu

Pianist · Educator · Founder of SUSTAIN.ART

Anna Tse Man Kiu is a pianist, educator, and the founder of SUSTAIN.ART. Driven by a mission to bring innovative, interdisciplinary solutions to the complex challenges that performing artists have long faced, Anna seeks to make a profound and lasting contribution to the global arts community.

Anna's commitment to performance wellness began with her own struggle with two episodes of tendinitis. Through the Alexander Technique — under teacher training and guidance from Brigitte Caron at the Montreal School of Alexander Technique, and later from Eiji Tanimura — Anna discovered that physical pain is not a "price" artists have to pay for their craft, but rather a sign that something is missing from traditional training. She is currently a teaching member of Alexander Technique International.

"Une pianiste très sensible, au jeu d'une beauté poétique."

— Jean-Eudes Vaillancourt

"Elle fait preuve d'une sensibilité remarquable aux couleurs d'ensemble."

— Françoise Gneri

An internationally recognized soloist and chamber musician, Anna has performed across Asia, Europe, and North America. In 2022, she served as Artist-in-Residence at Porto Pianofest (Portugal), sponsored by FLAD Fundação Luso Americana para o Desenvolvimento. She was interviewed by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) with her performance recorded for public broadcast.

Anna holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (First-class Honours, Performance Concentration) from Hong Kong Baptist University, under the tutelage of Cherry Tsang and Yoonie Han, with harpsichord training from David Chung. She earned her Master of Music (Piano Performance) from Université de Montréal, studying with Jean Saulnier, Charles Richard-Hamelin, and Henry Kramer. Her teachers trace a pedagogical lineage to Beethoven and Chopin.

In recognition of her teaching excellence, Anna was named to the First Honor Roll of Teachers by the Royal Conservatory of Music (2024/25). She has extensive experience teaching students with special educational needs (SEN), including autistic, dyslexic, and ADHD learners, and holds a certification in Autism and Neurodiversity in Early Childcare from the University of British Columbia.
